I totally agree with this. I cannot just “play.” BDSM is too serious for me and it’s all about the journey.

There is much dialog in the BDSM world on the topic of “play” - a very casual, non-intimate way to engage. Dominants and submissives set up “play dates”, “play parties”, and the like.
I feel those who mainly engage in “play” can miss a great deal. Roping techniques and toy bags are fun. People can learn and enjoy each other’s company. Munches and conferences can be fantastic.
I feel, however, that a true BDSM experience is a journey a submissive undertakes with her Dominant. He takes the time to explore her wants, needs, hopes, and desires. He reaches deep and uncovers her true center - the place she longs to be. And he dances with her - on the fringe of darkness.
A girl on a journey can feel as if she is entering a strange, dark hallway. She does not know the path ahead, nor does she know of the challenges and/or thrills she may face. She knows only that she is drawn there - by her Dominant.
